About British voice overs

With our base in London, Voquent has access to the best British voice-over artists in the world.

British neutral voice overs are popular for all types of projects including: Explainers, Audiobooks, Video Games, IVR messages and more.

Did you know, only 2% of British people speak with ‘the Queen’s English’? Most of our voices speak with a neutral English accent rather than RP (Received Pronunciation), but RP is the preferred dialect to teach English to foreign students and is also learned by actors.

More about British voice overs

British voice actors agency

Most people still associate the British accent with the early days of TV broadcasting and the Queen. Received Pronunciation (RP) was a favoured accent of the elite and upper classes in the 19th century and is still practiced by all trained actors today. Of course, times have since changed and even the queen has softened her RP accent in recent years, but the accent still conveys intelligence and high status to the listener.

Most of our projects require a neutral British accent that is very clear and easily understood by anyone, especially non-native English speakers.

Famous examples of the British accent

Here are links to some of our favourite actors speaking with a British accent.

Michelle Dockery’s
portrayal of Lady Mary Crawley is a traditional RP accent

Benedict Cumberbatch’s
role as Sherlock Holmes is a traditional RP accent:

Judi Dench
as M in the James Bond film series is a distinctive RP accent:

Ralph Fiennes’s
role as Monsieur Gustave in The Grand Budapest Hotel is classic RP accent:
